Oh...FIRE!

Amazing Day.

Background: Ever since I came to Hawaii in January, my dream has been to get on a boat at some point. Especially for sunset. It had never been fulfilled. To pay for it would be like at least $60 for not even that long. But I love the ocean so much and it would be amazing to know someone who had a boat. So I always tell people this because it's something that I just really want to happen!

Anyways, TODAY. Crazy. So this week, our speaker cancelled and the staff really prayed about what we should fill it with. They felt like the Lord was saying that this week was going to be a lot about us, students, taking initiative and rising up. So today was a "faith walk" day. Basically, at 9am they told us that we have the rest of the day to spend listening to God, where he wanted us to go, and anyone he wanted us to help. Whatever he said to do. Staff told us that we have until 8am the next day. No limits. They even said ask God to provide food if we aren't back on campus and that DID happen to people.

So we set out. My outreach team split into 2 groups. My group was Mary, Amanda, Jackson, and me. The other half of my outreach team (Julee, Ryan, and Jeanette) felt like the Lord was leading them to Hilo...2 hours away...on the other side of the island. [I have yet to hear their story as I haven't seen them yet but they were in the middle of the island when I texted them.]

While we were praying in the beginning, I felt like God told me "sea port" and I immediately thought of the harbor...which was kinda far and we would have to hitch hike to. But I figured it wasn't from the Lord because that was my desire getting in the way.

Started walking down the road by the beach. Hot, long, just trying to hear where God was leading us. Amanda got a vision of the red truck. The second one we saw happened to be in an apartment complex. She knocked on a door and asked a lady who the truck belonged to. [This is all about being BOLD!] And it happened to belong to the man on the balcony we said hi to when we walked in. So we went back to him and saw if he needed prayer. He just asked for peace and joy and was really nice. So I prayed for him from down below and he was just so happy and said we made his day. That was cool.

Then after a little while, we felt like we were told to hitch hike back into town. At that second, a ride was offered by a guy in a truck. We asked him where he was going (he was headed south) and he said it didn't matter because he wanted to take us to wherever we wanted to go! (which was north). So great! So we hopped in the back while Jackson sat in the cab with him. Got out downtown and were thanking him and he totally blessed us with words of encouragement and joy about what we were doing in the community. He is a Christian and has been involved with churches and shelters here in Kona. So we were totally fired up by talking to him.

After a little walking around, McDonald's for a coffee...where we talked to a few friendly people. Then I thought of a pineapple...and figured the best place would be the permanent farmer's market downtown which was supposed to be closed today...it wasn't. There were a few stalls open. Looked for people selling pineapple. Back at McDonald's Amanda was really hoping to have her lunch provided so she didn't have to spend money. Yeah, God is that good. Because at the market, a man came up to her and gave her mangoes, papayas, and white pineapple. She had always wanted to try white pineapple and God totally blessed her!

Later on...we were walking and I asked Amanda if she thought of anything and she said "boat" and "dock" came into her mind and she even said "maybe God wants to get us on a boat today". WOAH. That's what I thought earlier this morning! Crazy! Then it clicked...the pier. Duh. Why didn't I think of that before? So we walked there...I jokingly told Amanda to go up to the 2-story BodyGlove cruise yacht and ask if we could have a free ride. They had just docked and the crew of 5 guys was cleaning it out. She talked with them for a while as we walked along the pier. Then I went up to her and met the guys she was talking to. They invited us onto the boat. Super cool people. One guy had actually done a DTS with YWAM in Australia and used to lead worship on campus! Another guy, Xandon, who is 21 just moved here 5 weeks ago to live with his dad who runs the ship. He took us to the top deck and we just talked with him for about an hour and a half about everything and church and his views. He doesn't have a ton of friends here so he was pumped when we talked about hanging out.

Amanda on the boat!
Then we realized that tonight was skate night up on campus...and Xandon is a skater. He had actually come to campus 3 years ago for skate night when he was visiting but hasn't been since. So we exchanged numbers and told him to come hang out tonight.

Seriously, just being on the boat as it was docked was so so awesome. I just love it. And there is a possibility that we may go get a free ride because the staff invited us to come. It is so cool how God wants to see our desires fulfilled AND bring divine appointments in the process. THIS IS MY GOD!

So tonight, Xandon had dinner with us on base and came to skate night and met a bunch of the guys. Clicked with some on music and really got him plugged in. It was a good step. He is so thirsty for the Lord! He has been to Bible studies and stuff back home in Georgia but it was so cool to show him what community and the body of Christ is really suppose to be like. We are so excited to even have affected just one person today! Bring the love of God to everyone who needs it. C'mon!!

EXCITED TO HEAR THE REST OF THE STORIES TOMORROW!

Can I just say that we ended the day with a Zumba session led by my friend Katie who is an instructor? Yeah, that's right.
